Being a student during such a difficult time, it’s certainly been a challenge finding activities to immerse myself in that revolve around my biggest passion of epidemiology. Thus, I am beyond excited to expand my awareness of my favorite topics with GSYJ, as well as broaden my horizons on subjects that I don’t know as much about. Starting at a young age in elementary school, I was always obsessed with the rapid development of technology the world has been going through for centuries, especially in the area of engineering. Joining the executive team of GSYJ would allow myself to pursue my passions and apply them towards reaching out to the community regarding current events related to science and technology. Hello, my name is Michelle Ren and I'm currently a junior at Singapore American School! As an advocate for women's issues and a prospective STEM student, it is my delight to participate in GSYJ as a reporter. Since countless women still lack opportunities to enter STEM fields, these professions are considerably male-dominated. With GSYJ, I plan to raise awareness on societal issues concerning women in STEM by addressing school reforms, gender norm changes, and development in mass media’s information distribution. All together, I hope to work together with GSYJ to develop relevant articles that ultimately educate the public on social-cultural issues.

Hello, my name is Si Yon Kim a current sophomore at Saint Paul Preparatory Seoul in South Korea. I am more than grateful to join GSYJ community as the Chief Editor. As a teenager living in the midst of constant changes in the world, rising new fields of technologies of various subjects always seized my attention. Through GSYJ, I aim not only to inform our readers of new STEM topics but also to raise their awareness of problems that can be caused by the development of new technologies such as the increase in the unemployment rate. I would like to put more spotlight on the direct effects of technologies in our life not just about how it functions and its fundamentals. I wish to use this opportunity to broaden both the reader's and my perception of STEM topics especially on topics that we were unfamiliar with.

Hello, my name is Ashley Lin and I am currently a Junior at Mission San Jose High School. The areas of study of STEM all have distinctive qualities individually, but put together they are an unstoppable force that helps to break down boundaries and drive us towards the unknown. As a reporter at GSYJ, I want to explore and write about my favorite subfield in STEM: health science. I find that studying genetic makeup and applying biological concepts to my daily life is a really enriching experience that satisfies my intellectual curiosity.
